What Affects the Cost of a Battery Replacement
Battery jobs are not one price because they are not one job. The biggest factor is the battery itself: an AGM unit for a stop-start premium car is a different product from a conventional flooded battery for an older hatchback, and the vehicle decides which one is correct.
After that it is about the work involved. Engine bay batteries with clear access are quick; boot-mounted, under-seat and under-floor installations take longer. Some vehicles need the new battery registering through the OBD port, and a few have vent tube or hold-down arrangements that must be done properly rather than quickly.

What this means in practice
- We give you a quote before any work is done, so nothing appears afterwards that you did not agree to.
- Vans generally need higher-rated batteries than cars, which is reflected in the part rather than the labour.
- Coding is a genuine requirement on many vehicles, not an add-on — skipping it shortens the new battery's life.
- Old battery removal and recycling is included rather than charged separately.
- If the battery is fine and the fault is elsewhere, we tell you and you do not buy a battery.
Questions we get asked
Will you tell me the price before starting?
Always. You get the figure and what it covers before we do the work, and we do not proceed until you are happy with it.
Is a mobile fitting more expensive than a garage?
It removes the recovery, the workshop wait and the second trip to collect. Most customers find the overall position compares well once those are counted.
Do you charge extra at night or weekends?
We are clear about any out-of-hours difference when you call, before you commit to anything.
