Car Won't Start in Hot Weather
Heat is harder on a lead-acid battery than cold is. High under-bonnet temperatures accelerate internal corrosion and water loss, quietly reducing capacity through the summer. The battery still starts the car easily because a warm engine needs far less cranking effort, so nothing feels wrong.
Then the first cold snap arrives, cranking demand jumps and the reduced capacity is exposed all at once. That is why a battery that 'failed in December' was very often damaged in July — and why a summer test is more useful than a winter one.
